What to Expect at a Newborn Photo Session With Me

Welcoming a newborn into the world is a moment unlike any other - tender, transformative, and beautifully fleeting.  They only stay small for such a short time. Your newborn photo session with me is designed to be filled with calm moments and care all to create an experience that feels as special as the memories we will create.

From the moment you arrive, via a discreet side entrance with private parking, everything is thoughtfully prepared so you can relax and simply enjoy your baby and this super special time.

A Calm, Unhurried Experience

Newborn photo sessions with me are intentionally slow and baby-led. I have a workflow which I try to stick to, but there is no expectation for your baby to perform or follow it - we pause whenever they need to feed, be soothed or cuddle in your arms.

This gentle pace allows space for natural moments to unfold, creating images that feel effortless, authentic, and deeply connected. Of course there are the ‘posed’ family images too, but these relaxed and unposed moments can be the most precious

and natural images in your gallery.

A Beautifully Prepared Space

My studio is a warm, peaceful and private space. I’ve poured a lot of love into every aspect of it and I’ve made sure it is styled with soft textures and neutral tones that create a timeless aesthetic. Every element is chosen with you and your baby’s comfort in mind - from the lighting to the wraps and fabrics used throughout your session. Plus the coffee and snacks, a very important part of helping you to relax and enjoy!

You only need to bring the essentials: milk, nappies, and your little one. Everything else is taken care of for you.

Styling With Ease

For mothers, you are very welcome to select a gown from my beautiful and thoughtfully curated client wardrobe should you wish. These dresses are chosen specifically for their flattering fit, soft movement, and how beautifully they photograph. You may have already worn one at your maternity session, in which case I would suggest wearing the same one in your newborn session too.

You don’t have to use them though, if you prefer to stay in your own outfit of course that’s fine. My aim is to take photos of you that you want to display and cherish forever, so you need to be comfortable in what you’re wearing. Stick to neutral tones for you and your partner and siblings too. We don’t want any distractions in the photos so any logo’d tops and trousers are a no no.

For baby, I favour minimal, neutral styling that keeps the focus where it belongs: on their delicate features, tiny hands, and peaceful expressions.

The overall look I am known for is soft, natural, and refined — never over styled, always timeless.

Gentle, Baby-Led Posing

Your baby’s comfort and safety are always my highest priority. I use natural, gentle posing guided by your baby’s cues, allowing them to remain settled and content throughout the session.

Some of the most meaningful images are found in quiet details - a yawn, a stretch, the way they curl into your chest. These are the moments that tell your story.

Perfection is not the goal. Connection is.

A Space Where Everything Is Welcome

Newborn photo sessions are wonderfully real. There may be milk spills, outfit changes, or moments of uncertainty, if you know what I mean…. all of which are met with patience and reassurance. I’m a Mum, I know what comes with having a newborn and siblings to look after. Nothing will phase me, I’ve seen it all before first hand!

There is no need for your baby to be “perfect”, they already are, so please don’t stress over the little things.

The Heirlooms You Take Home

When you receive your gallery, my hope is that you will not only see how small they once were, but feel how this wonderful experience unfolded  - the closeness, the quiet, the love.

What I deliver is more than photographs. They are heirlooms of your baby’s first days and the beginning of your family’s story or next chapter.

If you are feeling unsure about a newborn session, please know that you do not need to prepare anything extraordinary. You simply bring your baby and yourselves — I will take care of the rest with the care and love that this moment deserves.
